Anolis Entertainment wurde 1998 von Bernd Reichert und Volker Lange gegründet.

Anolis Entertainment machte sich anfangs einen Namen mit qualitativ hochwertigen Neuauflagen älterer Produktionen aus dem phantastischen Genre auf VHS, wie zum Beispiel Monsterfilme aus Japan (Godzilla & Co.) sowie Horrorfilmen aus Spanien und Italien. Waren die ersten Auflagen noch reine Unterlizenzen, so wurden bereits 1999 die ersten direkten Verträge geschlossen. Anolis entschied sich, weiterhin alte Klassiker sowie zukünftig auch verstärkt neue Titel zu veröffentlichen.

Durch den starken Einbruch auf dem VHS-Markt im Jahr 2000/2001 begann Anolis mit der Produktion der ersten DVD „El Dia de la Bestia“. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt trat die Firma e-m-s new media AG an das Label heran, mit dem Angebot, das gesamte Anolis Programm zu vertreiben. Der Vertrieb durch die e-m-s war eine willkommene Ergänzung für den Verkaufsmarkt und schlussendlich auch für den Verleihbereich.

Die DVD von „El Dia de la Bestia“ erschien im November 2001 - mit überragendem Erfolg. Die mit Bonusmaterial hervorragend ausgestattete Doppel-DVD ist zusammen mit "Ring - Das Original" eine der erfolgreichsten DVDs von Anolis.
Sie steht symbolisch auch für das erklärte Ziel von Anolis, hohe Qualität zu bieten ähnlich wie das amerikanische Label Criterion, und wurde nicht umsonst von Star-Internet-Kritiker Harry Knowles direkt nach Erscheinen als weltbeste Veröffentlichung dieses Titels bewertet.

Ein weiterer Coup von Anolis war der Kauf 20 klassischer Horrorfilme aus den berühmten britischen Hammer Studios, während weitere Veröffentlichungen vieler Genreproduktionen aus Europa und vor allem Asien folgten, wobei hier die „Ring“ Trilogie aus Japan sicher die bisher erfolgreichste war.
Anolis ist eines der wenigen Labels, die keine Mühen scheuen sowohl für „alte“ als auch neue Veröffentlichungen liebevoll Bonusmaterial zusammenzustellen und zusätzlich Interviews zu führen, um den Zuschauern bestens ausgestattete Editionen bieten zu können, wie sie die Fans ansonsten nur von Labels wie Blue Underground und Anchor Bay gewohnt sind.

2003 machte Anolis den logischen nächsten Schritt und stieg als Co-Produzent bei dem Horrorfilm „Tears of Kali“ ein, der weltweit auf Festivals erfolgreich war, zahlreiche Preise gewann und mittlerweile in viele Länder, darunter USA, Spanien, UK und Italien, verkauft wurde.

Anolis Entertainment möchte sich zukünftig auch gerne verstärkt eigenen Produktionen widmen. Das nächste Projekt soll wieder ein Horrorfilm werden und befindet sich bereits in der Vorproduktion. Diese Leidenschaft, ungewöhnlichen Produktionen aller Genres aus vielen Ländern eine Plattform zu bieten, machte Anolis Entertainment so erfolgreich und hebt die Firma bis heute deutlich aus der Masse der anderen Labels hervor.

Anolis began to make a name for itself with high quality new editions of older productions of the fantastic genre on VHS, like monster movies from Japan (Godzilla and Co.) as well as horror movies from Italy and Spain! The first distributions were not yet directly licensed by Anolis, but already in 1999 the first own licenses were bought. Anolis decided to continue with the old classics but also began to distribute more new titles.

The VHS market was collapsing during the year 2000/2001, so Anolis began with the production of its first DVD „El dia de la Bestia“. At this point Anolis was approached by the e-m-s new media AG offering the label to help them distribute the complete Anolis program, which proved to be a smart move towards the rental and direct sales market.
The DVD of „El dia de la Bestia“ was released in November 2001 – with surprisingly huge success. The outstanding 2 DVD edition is packed with special bonus material and together with „The Ring“ it remains one of the most successful DVD’s of Anolis. It also stands as a symbol for the aim of the label Anolis, to offer highest quality like the American label Criterion, and the DVD edition was rated as the worldwide best release of „El dia de la Bestia“ by well known and acclaimed internet critic Harry Knowles.

Another clever buy (purchase) of Anoli was a package with 20 classic horror films from the famous british Hammer studios, while also many releases of genre productions from Europe and Asia followed, whereas the „Ring“ trilogy from Japan was one of the most successful.

Anolis remains one of the few labels that are not afraid to take some trouble to lovingly collect bonus features for „old“ and new releases as well, to achieve the best possible edition of a movie for the audience, much like the fans are used to from the labels Blue Underground and Anchor Bay.

Already with their first movie co-production „Tears of Kali“ Anolis landed a huge hit in 2003 which was a huge success, received numerous prizes at established festivals all over the world and was sold to many countries including the US, Spain, UK and Italy.

The next Anolis movie project is already in pre-production and will be a horror feature.
